"Indiana Hidden Treasure"
John Strickland lived his life in Indiana. He graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1959, Wabash College in 1963, and earned a master's from Goddard College. JFS was a very rare person who was truly brilliant and contained many multitudes: he was kind, strong, good, and inspirational. He lived his life in art, literature, and music and excelled in all of these.
Painting for me is right-brain problem-solving of problems of its own creation. It can be fun, but just as often it is maddening. I work in acrylics because their fast drying time allows me to make the many changes that are typical in my work. I am happy to have this "history" show through. This process continues till I surrender to the will and wisdom of intuition. I agree with the painter who said, "What ends up painting is what I would have wanted to paint if I could
have thought of it in the first place.
